After School Program Sylvania Area Family Services provides a free after school program for youth, recommended by Sylvania elementary school counselors and, identified as low income or “at risk”.
The after school program contains elements like additional reading time, assistance with homework and group playtime including outdoor games, game room, board games and structured educational games. Youth work on socialization skills and appropriate behaviors. Many high school students from area private and public schools fulfill their community service hours working as mentors to these youth.

Summer Camp SAFS is a licensed day camp provider through the State of Ohio and offers 7 weeks of summer fun in sessions of two or three-week segments for our low income and at risk youth who otherwise might not get an opportunity to participate in such a program.
Youth receive a summer camp t-shirt and each fun filled session is themed with topics like sports, animals, theater or culture. Days consist of reading and educational games, crafts, songs, field trips, guest speakers and swimming.
A hot lunch is provided each day youth are on site and bag lunches are sent with campers on field trips, nutritious snacks are also provided daily. |
