Emergency Food
A few days supply of non-perishable items designed to get families through a tough spot. Emergency food is available 4 times a year with a minimum of 30 days between requests. Clothing vouchers may be available under some circumstances.

Government Commodities Distribution Site*
We dispense commodities to eligible applicants the first Monday of every month. If the first Monday is a holiday, distribution will be the following Monday.

Harvest
A weekly food supplement distribution program designed to supply extra products to families. Distribution usually includes, bread, pastries, beverages and other goodies as well as canned goods and other non-perishable items.

Utility and Rental Assistance
These programs are offered on a very limited basis. Clients must present either a shut off or eviction notice and have a means of paying future charges. Rental housing deposit funds may also be available for units within the district.

Holiday Baskets
Applicants must pre register for baskets. Thanksgiving baskets contain all of the items to make a traditional Thanksgiving meal. Christmas baskets contain meals for the holiday and appropriate gifts for children 16 and under.

Information and Referral Services
SAFS staff works closely with other agencies to provide those services not offered by our organization. Families will be referred to those agencies based on need.


*In the event that Sylvania Schools close for bad weather
distribution will be the following day.

  • Clients must supply proof of Sylvania school district residency. Example -     a recent utility bill with their name and address on it.
  • Provide proof of income: Last two pay stubs, SSI, Disability notice, etc.
  • All applicants must make an appointment for services.
