Emergency Food: A few days supply of non-perishable is provided to help families through a tough period.
In 2009, SAFS served 721 Individuals.
Government Commodities Distribution Site: We dispense commodities to eligible applicants the first Monday of every month.
In 2009, SAFS served 1,207 Individuals.
Harvest: A weekly food supplement distribution program designed to supply extra products to families.
In 2009, SAFS served 5,595 Individuals.
Utility and Rental Assistance: Programs are offered on a very limited basis. Clients must present either a shut-off or eviction notice and have a means of paying future charges.
In 2009, SAFS served 128 Individuals.
Holiday Baskets: Applicants must pre-register for baskets. Thanksgiving baskets contain all of the items to make a traditional Thanksgiving meal. Christmas baskets contain meals for the holiday and appropriate gifts for children.
In 2009, SAFS served 1,282 Individuals.
Information and Referral Services: Staff work closely with other agencies to provide services not offered by SAFS. Families will be referred to other agencies based on need.
Youth Services In 2009, SAFS served 48 youth. Summer Camp: As a licensed day camp provider through the State of Ohio, SAFS offers seven weeks of summer fun for low-income or at-risk youth who otherwise might not have an opportunity to participate in such a program. In 2009, SAFS served 25 youth. The Sylvania Youth Diversion Program: SYDP is a voluntary program for first-time, non-violent, youth offenders 11-17 years of age (18 if still in high school) residing or offending in Sylvania Cityor Township. Successful completion of this family program results in no juvenile record of conviction for the youth. In 2009, SAFS served 78 youth and families.
After- School Mentoring Program: Provided free-of-charge to eligible families recommended by Sylvania elementary school counselors and identified as low-income or “at-risk.”
